“Truely Fabulous! Definitely has the WOW factor!”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2013

We (and our two furry/hairy 'babies') have just spent a wonderful week at Drumalban. We knew the moment we came down the secluded driveway, which opened up to expose the most spectacular and uninterrupted and far reaching views of the loch and distant hills, that we were going to just love our stay here in Drumalban. We were not disappointed! Situated in a very peaceful and private setting the house is beautifully done and kitted out with everything you could possibly need. We found the sofa's and king sized bed extremely comfortable and it was lovely to see views from every area in the house. So uplifting! We never closed our bedroom curtain as waking to 'that' view every morning was tremendous! We especially loved the large and 'secure' grounds with lots of different area's to explore, gardens of colourful flowers, lawns, meadows and woodland (and of course those views). There was so much outside space you would never need to leave to walk elsewhere (if so inclined) and it was perfect for our 2 dogs. Another bonus was being able to let our dogs wander unsupervised without the worry of them escaping for adventure further afield - not that they needed adventures elsewhere there was enough to be had right here. Kids would love it too. Although we didn't partake there was lots of indoor board games, outdoor games and young children's toys available. There was also equipment for outdoor pursuits such as fishing and wetsuits etc. all free to use. Care has also been taken to provide useful and helpful information manuals including an invaluable detailed guide to Drumalban outlining everything you need to know about the running of the house e.g. heating controls, appliances etc. They've thought of everything! Tempting as it was to just stay and spend our week at Drumalban we did of course venture further afield. We took lovely walks close by, through the village and off road. Just a few minutes drive (or long walk) along the loch shore road and you're at the end of the Craignish Peninsula with spectacular views of the sea and Islands beyond. We took a nice gentle walk up to the trig point from here. We enjoyed trips to Oban and other places of interest but the highlight was returning back to Drumalban - a very welcoming sight. Thank you Kirsty for helping to make our visit so welcoming and pleasant. We had a truly wonderful, relaxing and restful time. Drumalban was everything we hoped it would be and we hope to visit again soon. We highly recommend Drumalban as an outstanding place to stay (the large number satisfied and returning guests was evident from the visitors book). There's just one downside - we can't stay more often!! JJO&T

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Drumalban, we really appreciate this, as your comments help future guests to get a true picture of the house and area. If you should choose to holiday in Ardfern again we would love to welcome you back - there are plenty of walks left for yourselves and the "boys" to enjoy!

“Great Stay”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2013

Just back from a week at Drumalban. We adored the open plan layout of the house with it's Scandinavain influences, it was very clean and well presented thoughout but not too precious that you could not relax. The garden was fantastic - we have two small dogs that were able to run around until their hearts content. The views from the house are spectacular....you would have to go a very long way to beat them. The village of Ardfern is a hidden gem conveniently situated between Oban and Lochgilphead. We are already looking forward our next visit.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, it is much appreciated and helps our future guests get a feel for Drumalban and all it offers. I'm glad the dogs enjoyed the garden, I wonder if you saw the roe deer that regularly visit? Should you choose to holiday in Argyll again we would be delighted to welcome you back.

“If you're going to Scotland, this is the place to stay!!”

Drumalban. What a place!! We went with a group of friends for Christmas and had the best time. Kirsty made everything easy from beginning to end. The place is better in real life than the pictures (which were already great). The house was fantastically equipped with everything we needed, plenty of heating and situated in a lovely little village. Loved every minute of it and cannot wait to be back!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Drumalban - we really appreciate this and if you should choose to holiday on the west coast of Scotland again we would love to welcome you back. We know you enjoyed your Christmas barbecuing and might like to know that we know that we replaced the original one this year with a new "super-sized" one! We liked the idea that you could barbecue outside and then dine in front of the roaring log fire in December!!

“Brilliant - house, views, weather - ideal for a short or long break”

10 of us went to Drumalban to celebrate an 80th birthday. Ages ranged from 10 - 80. The children loved the garden and the football goals and the adults loved the peaceful location and outstanding views. All the bedding and towels etc were new and the kitchen had eveything we needed. We loved the wood fire and the dining table is large enough to accommodate everyone. It is at the end of a single track and probably not too suitable for a low car but we were aware of that before we booked. We walked into Ardfern in 10 minutes and enjoyed a drink in the pub.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, it is much appreciated and helps our future guests get a feel for Drumalban and all it offers. I'm glad the celebrations for the big birthday went with a bang! Should you choose to holiday in Argyll again we would be delighted to welcome you back.

“Our 2nd Christmas at Drumalban, drawn back by unique ambience, elegant interior + top class log fire.”

Drumalban's view down the loch, the colours changing through the day with the varying light, is reason enough to want to spend a week here. In 20 years of taking self catering lets, both summer and Christmas, I have not found a better stocked and equipped kitchen, unique feature of which is its mezzanine location. The kitchen layout allows the chef both freedom of space , and opportunity to be included in the wider buzz of the group. Add on relaxed and helpful support from Kirsty - Drumalban is a very reasonably priced self catering gem.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. we really appreciate your kind comments particularly since you have had a lot of experience in booking self catering houses. We are keen cooks ourselves and have made sure everything we would need for our own kitchen is in place in Drumalban. As for the view, you're right it is fantastic! We would love to welcome you back to Ardfern again.

“The most magical place to stay with stunning views down Craignish Peninsula”

Drumalban has everything you would want from a holiday home. It is a home from home, in the most magical and stunning setting on the West Coast of Scotland, yet close to local amenities. The house is well maintained and has everything you could possibly need for your stay. There is lots to do for those who like outdoor activities: walking, sailing, canoeing, fishing as well as a marina within half a mile of the house.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Drumalban - we really appreciated this as it helps future guests get a feel for the house. Should you choose to visit the west coast of Scotland again, we would be delighted to welcome you back.

My wife, sister, and brother-in-law had the good fortune to stay at Drumalban for the week following the 2010 Open and had a GREAT time. The house was very well appointed and suited our every need. The village nearby offered all of the ammenities we required from groceries to eateries and the house management was exceptional. Ms. Richardson was quite helpful in supplying us with information regarding local and regional activities and sites. We will certainly return!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for your kind comments. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Drumalban and even more delighted that you will be with us again in the summer of 2014 for more golf and another visit to the west coast of Scotland. See you then!

“Fantastic house in a great location. Ideal for the extended family group.”

We always struggle to find a property big enouth for our annual extended family holiday but Drumalban fitted the bill in every aspect. The rooms are vast and the patio adds even more space for alfresco eating.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I'm glad you had a great time! Your comments are very helpful and your right, we added a third bathroom recently!. Should you choose to holiday in Ardfern again we would be delighted to welcome you back to Drumalban.

We were 12 people and had the most perfect stay, we never felt crowded, we had 3 little kids and the house was very child friendly. as indians we cooked a lot and there was everything available in the kitchen. We travelled as far as inverness making this our base and had no issues. The house was in perfect condition, sheets clean, bathrooms clean and i will defnitely go back many times

“Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings!!”

We spent a week in this lovely house. It has a fully equipped kitchen with everything you can think of! Lots of reading material, board games, long nights at the open fire place...all with a superb view of the loch - made for a very relaxing week! The internet was not working during our stay, but we did not get around to reporting this as we didn't find it too big a deal. This is definitely a house I would love to stay in again!!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We noted your mention of the WiFi and can report that all has been working well for some time now. There is even the prospect of 3G being introduced to the area over the next 6 months! We can't wait!. If you should choose to holiday in Scotland again we would be delighted to welcome you back.
