RELAIS CASCINA SAN MARTINO has a nice view over the vineyards, a cellar where the house wine is produced and bottled, a clubhouse where the wine can be tasted after a walk in the vineyards. The property park (25.000 square meters) is available for pleasant walks, and includes a small pond where ducks and gees turn around, and a three-hole practice golf course. Not far, many interesting medioeval cities, Asti, Alba, Alessandria and Acqui, can be visited (20 to 30 kms) and the Piedmont capital city (Torino) is the unique link between Italy and France, between Rome and Paris. Genova and all the Riviera Ligure are within reach (one/two hours by train, depending on destination).
Cascina San Martino is located in the land of the great Piedmont wines: BAROLO, BARBARESCO, NEBBIOLO, BARBERA, DOLCETTO (red wines), and MOSCATO (sparkling white wine). The neighbourhood is rich with restaurants, enoteques, "trattoria", "osteria", where the traditional excellent Piedmont "cuisine" can be tasted.
And all the sorrounding towns and villages organize, during the summer, sagras, feasts and street markets displaying ancient and old things, from furniture to books, pictures, grandmather's linen and towels.
But we are also near to Genova, on the sea, one of the four ancient Sea Republics (the other three being Venezia, Pisa and Amalfi), at the center of the amazing Ligurian Riviera.
At 60 kms distance (50 by highway) there is Torino, a fascinating city with some of the most beautiful squares in Italy, the Royal Palace, the Egyptian Museum, second in the world only to the Cairo one, and the Po river with parks and promenades.
At 20 minutes, southwest, there is Acqui Terme, hystorical city of the times of Roman Empire, with hot water fountains and thermal facilities. At the same distance, but northwest, there is Alba, the capital city of Piedmont "gourmandise" and of the worldfamous white trouffles.
