“A relaxing home from home”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2014

We really enjoyed our 2 weeks in Laveyssiere. The gite was beautiful, clean and extremely well-equipped. The pool, table football, ping pong table, trampoline & large garden meant that our boys had plenty to do on those days spent relaxing. The historic town of Bergerac with its shops, museums and restaurants was only 15 minutes away. Our children loved the go-ape style aerial park just 5 minutes up the road, although it's wise to visit in the morning - it can be very busy in the afternoon. We recommend the Auberge du Musee in Mussidan - simple, well cooked traditional French cuisine, proper food. Far better than some of the touristy fare some of the restaurants in Bergerac serve up. Our 2 weeks flew by far too quickly. If we revisit the area we'll definitely return to Les Cypres.

“Idyllic rural French retreat”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2013

We stayed at the house in Laveyssiere in August last year with another family (4 adults and 4 children aged from 1-7). The house is extremely spacious and well equipped and the location is beautiful. You can do as much or as little as you like (we tended towards the latter!). We have already booked in go back in July this year! Having small kids in the party, we cooked ourselves most nights, buying beautiful fresh ingredients from the market in Bergerac and we ate outside on the large table every evening, sipping wine, playing cards and just relaxing. There is a small pool, which was just right for cooling off in the 30C heat and when we did feel more energetic there are plenty of tracks/quiet roads to go for a run or a cycle. If you are more ambitious there are lots of interesting places around for day trips, including Bergerac itself and towns such as Sarlat and Beynac. Next time we go we promised to take our sons to see the prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies.

“A wonderful relaxing break in the beautiful Dordogne”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2013

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this lovely part of the Dordogne. The cottage was spacious, very comfortable and extremely well equipped and one of the highlights was eating al fresco beside the pool in the evenings. The village is idyllic and the surrounding countryside ideal for walking and cycling. It was very convenient for visiting Bergerac and ideally placed for exploring the Dordogne and adjacent areas. The delightful towns along the river, like Sarlat and Beynac, and the prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies and a variety of chateau are all within the scope of a day trip. And, needless to say, there was plenty of opportunity to try the many excellent places to eat, bars and patisseries - one of the great pleasures of holidaying in France. This cottage and location are ideal for a family holiday or as a quiet retreat to recharge batteries and smell the coffee. We can't wait to return.

“Charming, beautiful house!”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2013

We loved our stay in this charming, beautiful house! It was the perfect destination for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 daughters - of 11 and 13 yrs). Having a decent-sized pool in the private garden was great and we appreciated the large parasol, which meant that we could dine al fresco and keep out of the sun if we wanted to. All the bedrooms are good sizes, and 2 bathrooms meant that teen preening sessions didn't affect the whole family. We found some nice forest walks very nearby and the village is extremely pretty. Being able to buy fresh bread at the restaurant next door was a bonus too and the locals were very tolerant of my rusty French! Bergerac is only a short drive away, and it is worth the trip for the ice cream alone (their lemon meringue pie flavour is hard to beat!). We'll definitely be booking again for this year. “Lovely family holiday”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2013

We had a great time staying here in July. The house has large cool rooms, comfortable beds , lovely bathrooms and is well equipped. The pretty village has an interesting history (ask in the local church) and is only i0 mins drive away from Bergerac where we enjoyed the winetasting in the wine museum on the banks of the Dordogne and the popular icecream shop in the centre of the old town. Lots of interesting shops there to explore but the grandchildren couldn't wait to get back to the pool so they could have a water fight while the adults relaxed and got the barbeque going. Everyone had a lovely holiday and we've already booked for this July.
