“Excellent, comfortable and well equipped home”

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the month stay at the well located Butterworth Hall. Owners, Judith and David, were very helpful and quick to respond to any requests. We were welcomed with a Christmas tree, flowers and tasty treats. The cottage is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The location of the cottage is excellent - close to pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and tram to Manchester City Centre. The great WiFi access was important for us to keep in touch. It's very spacious as we hosted dinner for 15 people. I would highly recommended this cottage to anyone needing to stay near Manchester.

We rented the cottage for the second time and honestly it's the absolute best. Everything is at your fingertips, We would never even think about staying in a hotel with so many comforts the cottage has to offer. We can invite family and friends to visit and stay for supper, relax in the back yard or in front of the television or more typically congregate in the large kitchen. The village has everything you will need with bigger stores close by. Access to Manchester via rail is right there at the station but for me more importantly access to the countryside is on your doorstep. We all enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next time.

This beautifully renovated property provided an ideal base for our holiday. Easy transport links, comfortable and well appointed facilities and the helpfulness and friendliness of the owners made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The bedrooms were spacious and easily accommodated our family of 5.

We stayed for a week over Christmas with elderly relatives and the cottage provided good accommodation for us all. It has excellent facilities and is tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen was well equipped and the sitting room was cosy. It is in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and pubs. The pub at the end of the terrace was very friendly and welcoming. Easy access and parking at the back of the cottage. The fast WIFI helped us keep in touch with friends and family. The open countryside is only 10 minutes drive away. While being close to Junction 21 on the M62 the metro station is also within walking distance for easy access into Rochdale or Manchester should you not wish to drive. The owners were very welcoming and helpful at all times.

It is a lovely cottage situated in a very convenient place to enable visitors to go either east to Yorkshire or west to Lancashire. We have family both in Harrogate and Cheadle and were easily able to visit them both as well as friends in Colne. The cottage suited us very well as my wife and I took over the extremely comfortable top floor, whilst our son, daughter in law and granddaughter were able to have the whole of the first floor to themselves. The range in the kitchen was one to die for and on one evening we managed to seat and feed 11 for dinner. There was enough china and cutlery for all of us, although we did bring in the table from outside. Mr & Mrs Hirst deserve a massive amount of praise in the tasteful way that they have renovated this old weaver's cottage and made it such a wonderful holiday cottage

I have lived here twice. the feeling that this house gave me was very special. And the memory of there was percious. Every room was comfortable and I like the design inside the house. Also, landlord was very nice! I love here!

We (2 adults and a 2 month old baby) travelled from Australia to spend xmas and new year 2013 with family in Royton and Milnrow. 31 Butterworth Hall is a 3 level weavers style cottage and was perfect for us. The owner Judith met us at the property and showed us the ropes. She had very kindly put up xmas decorations and a tree for us and there was even a gift for our baby daughter under the tree. We were touched. Basic provisions were provided (including wine in the fridge!). On the ground floor there is a lovely kitchen with everything you could need. Adjacent is a cosy lounge with gas burning fire. On the first floor there is a double bedroom, two singles and a family bathroom with shower. On the top floor there is a double bed, further sitting room and shower room, pretty much a self contain apartment. The cottage is quietly positioned in the village, just off the high street and almost next door to the Wagon Pub (although you wouldn't notice, we weren't disturbed by their customers even at this busy time of the year). It is very conveniently positioned for local shopping (a Tesco metro is 2 minutes walk) and there is easy access to the M62 motorway (about 3 minutes away). There are at least 4 pubs within walking distance, some of which serve food. Parking is at the rear of the property, accessed via the pub car park and was never a problem. The cottage was a great base for us. It is quiet and cosy but with local conveniences within walking distance. As we had lots of travelling to do the easy access to the M62 was a bonus. Judith was non intrusive but readily available and kept in touch by text to make sure everything was OK. We had a great stay and have no hesitation recommending this property.

Fresh flowers, milk in the fridge, plenty of hot water and a good heating system.... and much more. We spent a very comfortable and relaxing week in this beautifully restored cottage in the heart of Milnrow. We would certainly recommend it to others who want a central location with access to the delights of the Pennine hills and the metro service into Manchester - best of both worlds.
